I was wondering what interest there might be out in MTP-land for a Genesis Trade Navigator version of MTPredictor. Steve said if there were enough interest, he would look into possibly creating such a version. So, if anyone is interested, please post a reply here. ;) ;) ;)

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,

Good idea on the poll... just a reminder to people that in order to cast a vote they need to log-in.

I 've been playing with Trade Navigator recently and I must say that I'm impressed. The data package they offered is reliable and easier to work with than TS when importing EOD data into MTP EOD. Definitely a good prospect!!!

Tradestation is really staying behind its competition.

Let us know when this will be possible.

Hi Qitrader

yes I agree, Trade Navigator is a great program...... and about to get much easier with MTPredictor, as

1. I am just setting up "pre-built" Export lists that cover Futures (067 and individual contracts), Stocks (S&P 500 and high volume list) and Forex, that will automatically load into MTP EOD...

2. Then there are the MTP add-ons that will plot on the Trade navigator charts themselves, This is a longer project but should be ready later in the year.

So exciting developments with regard to Trade navigator :)

Great, I look forward to receiving and using it, as paring down my list of contracts within one of my symbol lists has been one of the many challenges on my to-do list.:o

Future contracts, like options contracts, expire. When the expiration date approaches, futures traders will sell their existing positions in the expiring month's contract and buy contracts in another month, e.g., from the June contract to the Sept contract. This is called "rolling". Steve has generously decided to take his time, every month, and generate, for us, new symbol lists for Genesis Trade Navigator. These lists are then imported into Trade Nav. They contain the symbols of those contracts having the greatest open interest - i.e., those which are the most liquid and which should probably be considered for our trading.

hope this helps,:)

Thanks for the info, can you use the continuous contract to identify trades or do you have to use the current contract? how long have you been EOD futures trading? do you prefer it to RT?(if you dont mind my asking)

You're better off asking your first question of the tech support folks.

I have not traded Futures from MTP, yet, but I'm getting close to starting. I use the EOD ver of MTP because I can't trade during the day.

Hi Guys

yes, I hope to have all the main RT studies into Genesis, in exactly the same way as we have them in NinjaTrader, this will include all the automatic set-ups as well as the manual DP level as well as the STF and ATRStop, in fact everything we current have in the NinjaTrader version.

Thanks

Too early to give an upgarde price as yet as we are still coding......

Steve

Steve,

Sorry to moan but I have some concerns. Others may share them.

I have been a (satisfied) user of MTP EOD & RT for some time. However, I am concerned at the persistent chopping and changing between various platforms, your company's apparrent lack of direction and in particular the stagnation of the EOD product..

With RT, first there was the MTP platform with esignal data, then the MTP platform with Realtick data (now apparently abandoned) then esignal with MTP efs then Tradestation with MTP eld (both now apparently sidelined) then a suggestion of MTP + Metastock now Ninja + MTP add on.

I bought MTP RT prior to the efs era. I neither have nor want Realtick. My (expensive) platform is now completely useless so I have shelled out for the Ninja add on. As it happens I find Ninja rather good but that is beside the point.

With MTP EOD (my main platform) there has been progrssive development of the program. There was a glitch with V.5 (I can't remember what) that was to be put right later but never was. Then V6 was under development. Now there appears to be a Genesis platform in development. Whatever the merits of Genesis (I switched to it for a number of months but have now returned to TC 2007) I do not want to use it. Equally, I do not want to find myself with MTP EOD (another expensive piece of software) that is put on the scrapheap in the same way as the various RT offerings.

It is now many months since there was an EOD revision. The features missing that can be found in RT are the various filters, the RT style STF, the STF strength bands, automatic DPs etc etc.

I am feeling a little let down and it would be good to have your assurance that the EOD program is still in development and will be updated sooner rather than later with the features now in the RT system. I think, though I cannot be sure, this has been promised for some time.

Hi Everybody

What you have to understand is that we have "different" programmers for different jobs, and our EOD programmer has been coding the EOD program continuously (without a break and even working many weekends) for over 8 months solid now. Yes there have been delays, but then there are when developing any software so, yes we have never let up, not for for 1 minute, the EOD development in the last 8 months !!!

The RT add-ons have been programmed by different programmers, so while it may seem that EOD has stalled, this is NOT the case. it just so happens that the coding for the various RT add-ons was quicker.

Just for the record, YES we are updating the TS8 elds (coding going on this week), and YES we will be updating the eSignal efs's and Yes we will be adding a Genesis version (using again different programmers).

I too wish programming could be done in 2 minutes but the reality is it takes time, a lot of time and yes money, a lot of money (100's of 1,000 of $'s) to develop and program software. It is just that end users never see this so do not appreciate how much time effort and cost goes into the software they use each day.................

So again, we are all working as hard as we can and as fast as we can, so having go at us does not help.... so all we can do is be patience and wait for the finished product.......

Hi Steve,

Being in the business of estimating how much it costs to develop software, I completely understand and can appreciate your situation. So, for everyone's sake (user and developer, alike) good luck in completing the project as quickly as you can.

From the user perspective, can you give us some hints as to what we might expect in the new EOD version? For instance, will there be a new charting engine and changes (improvements) in the user interface, etc.?

Thanks,
Ben

Steve,

Thanks for the explanation. I was not 'having a go', more expressing a concern that development of the existing product appeared to be coming second to developing further, more advanced products.

Not for me to settle your corporate strategy, but as a customer I don't want to have to switch from platform to platform to use the latest version of the product. In particular, in addition to data costs, I don't want to have to pay another vendor for a platform into which MTP has to be plugged. If, however, it results in a superior product then perhaps I will have to.

Is a plug it to Genesis going to be superior to MTP V5 or V6? If it is, it would help me plan what platforms / data sources etc I am going to need in future if you will say in what ways?

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

I understand....

As far as Data goes, For EOD my personal favourite has always been Genesis. In the new EOD v6.0 we will have the same data formats as we do in the current EOD v6.0, Metastock and ASCII formats and a direct connection into TS2007. So for EOD nothing will change on the Data front.

For RT, my personal favourite has been eSignal, (although I am testing DTN.IQ into NinjaTrader here at the moment), so with us updating the eSignal efs as well as NinjaTrader being able to use eSignal nothing has changed here as well.

We are also updating the TS8 Eld's so, TS8 will remain a fully supported data feed.

So from the RT perspective nothing has changed here either.

The only thing that will change is adding additional choices for customers, these being additional RT data feeds into NinjaTrader (IB for example) and the upcoming Genesis integration.

So all we are doing is adding additional choices not forcing any current customers to change what they already have. This is just a natural progression as the company grows and expands.

As far as superior products or superior solutions, I am trying to level the playing field here with all the RT options providing the same functionality (as far as we can, excluding the natural limitations of Trade Station), as well as updating the new EOD v6.0 with the new features that have been added into the RT products over the last year. So a level playing field all round (I hope - as far as programming limitations will allow) ......

I hope this helps ?

We are still waiting on the Genesis programmers, they are extremely busy with other projects, so we will all have to wait for a while yet.

So this may be into neaxt year now...

I'm also interested in using a version of MTPredictor for Genesis since I use them as a data feed for the EOD version. I find their training second to none with one on one coaching sessions to help you learn their software. It'd make it easier to make the switchover to trying to trade real time next summer, rather than having to learn Ninja Trader. The only thing is that I wish Genesis had a marke analyser screen as NT does.

All the best,
Chris

Just wanted to post the response I received from Genesis support regarding an MTP add-on for Trade Navigator:

"I have spoken with our Head of Operations as well as most of our Development Team and there are currently no plans like this in the works. Our software is setup to allow users of MTPredictor to export the data for use within the MTPredictor software. But does not have the indicators and features currently resident within the MTPredictor software and no plans as of yet to implement them."

So it sounds like this will be a long wait... sigh...

Hi Steve,

How to do this fast:
1) You can click the export button in Genesis and
2) edit the MTP-future export.
3) Delete existing futures and
4) click on lookup symbols to add.
5) Then fill -20 and click on contains.
6) Select the first one and
7) click the last one together with spacebar (you will see all futures are selected blue). After that
8) add all by clicking ok.
9) You must delete symbols wich you don't use because you can have only 999 symbols in ASCII format and you have more than 3000. But deleteing is quicker than adding and after this
10) you have the right export.

Instead of deleting you can add more exportgroups. But the method is nearly the same and it is easy and very quick!

Greetings
