View Full Version : NinjaTrader & TS8 Data Problems

I've been having big problems with getting reliable data piped from TradeStation into the new Ninja RT add-on.
The issues I get are:-
1. NT not fully importing all the historical data i.e. it leaves out chunks like a full day's trading session.
2. The RT ticks only start from the time I do the connection i.e. the last historical bar will be the last bar of previous session and the 1st bar in today's session will be the time I attached to the TS8 feed.
I've followed the instructions as per the Vidoes and am doing everything correct as far as I can see. Sometimes deleting the history files, restating NT and TS8 and recreating the graphs fixes the problem and otehr times it does not, but either way it involves lots of wasted time:mad:!
I hear from Steve that other users have problems with the TS8 feed and was wondering if they are similar to the above?
If yes, have you found a dependable fix as I'm very close to giving up on the Ninja TS8 feed with all the problems.
Any feedback from Ninja/TS8 users greatly appreciated?

CT,
I also had TS data feed issues, but appear to have been corrected with NT support.
I would suggest contacting Chris Defries @ Ninja Support. He was an exceptional help to me in getting data fed in correctly.
You can reach him at support@ninjatrader.com
If you wish to contact me here in US during trading hours perhaps I can help.

Thanks David.
I'll try Chris at Ninja first and may give you a call if they can't sort it.

CT & David - may I please ask how your efforts are going using TS8 for live intraday data with NT ?
I am interested in checking out NT Free with range bars and wonder which of my two existing data sources I should use, both of which are supposed to be compatible : TS8 or Interactive Brokers. I know IB's feed is a "snapshot", but that does not concern me as much as a simple and reliable interface with NT. My intention is to run a couple of charts only.
I'm reluctant to burden my trading computer with the dreaded eSignal :p ...

I just received a reply from NT support telling me that IB is easier to set-up, so I will start there... but I am still interested to hear if anyone has TS8 intraday data running smoothly into NT, please.

That would be me... knock on wood! I've been running NT with TS data for sometime now and as long as I've followed the steps laid out by Steve in his setup videos, I've had absolutely no problems.
Although I am not running the latest version of NT so that may be the difference. I'm still running on version 6.0!
But the steps I adhere to are as follows:
1. Open NT
2. Open TS
3. Run historical import
4. Connect to external data feed
5. Load market analyzer and new charts
As long as I follow these steps in their exact order, I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever!
Also, one last thing that I do... is when I'm done for the day, I close out all charts and market analyzer from the NT platform before I shut it down...so that I start from scratch each and every day. It may be a pain to do it this way... but it sounds to me that not doing it this way could result in larger pains later.
Hope this helps!
