Here is another Range Bar trade. This one again is a high R trade. Range Bar trades are giving me trades like this every day. The reason is that the range bars are small range so the targets provide > 8R usually.

Ninja wil have range bars in its next major release, I'm told.

Hello Tombtrader,

Firstly, let me tell you "thanks" for all the valuable info you give us.

Before using "Range bar" charting, would you mind to give us some statistics (trades number, %Win/loss ratio, %breakeven trades, R/R multiples) ?

Your truly "range bar" trading experience could be usefull for all the MTPredictor familly.

Thanks for your attention

Kindest Regards

Angel

Hi Angel,

I know you are interested in how well these are working, but please do not expect users to do so much work, Tom is posting good examples here and as a professional trader does not have time to answer every post, so please just let him post good examples and share what he is doing without "grilling" him ....

Another great trade Tom - well done :)

Thanks

Steve

I don't think my stats are relevant to anyone else as I filter all signals to get my setups. I get over 80% winers with usually no winner much less than 3R.

The critical thing for me is that with range bars, every trade is the same number of contracts for that market and I can create the > 3R wins by the size of the range bar I use. However, I chose a range bar size that fits the rhytm of the market.

Hi Tom,
How do you select the range bar size?
Do you use any indictors like ADX, TICKS or TRIN, VOLUME or price range to gauge the rhytm, or is it more a sibjective visual thing for which range bar size gives smoother waves?

Hi Tom

Some time ago I put a Monte Carlo simulation spreadsheet somewhere on this forum.

Running your stats through it (see attachment) you will soon be the richest man on the planet!

Sure would like to have a clue as to how you filter the signals.

Its the latter - eyeball. I use indicators to filter - any overbought/oversold will do.

I love those stats that start off trading one contract and when you are trading 451 contracts you have made $2,000 million. Just try and trade size - its a whole new ball game.
