I found that I can approximate the signals of range bars by using volume bars. I played around until I found what worked. Here is a trade from this morning that gave > 9R

Hello Tombtrader,
Great news, but I didn't know that it is possible to use volume bars in NT.
Is it really true or do you use a beta NT version ?
Thanks
Angel

Just the normal NT. The drop down where you select the time frame allows volume and ticks as well asthe regular time frames.
Can't make the pic bigger. I know its a pain.

tombtrader,
You mention that you played around until you found settings that worked...
What settings did you find that worked?
Cheers

Depends on what market and your own trading style and stop requirement. Just play around by looking at the average daily volume and divide it by the number of bars you want to see during the day. eg, if the av vol is 100,000 and you want 200 bars per day then use a 500 volume setting for your bars. Then check that the bars are not too long as the stops will be too big. You can use the ATR for that.

Hi, tombtrader
I find your posts about range bars quite interesting. Could you tell me some of your DAX settings?
1. Range bar
2. How to filter out ts setups (especially, how you use volume & tick bars to
confirm a signal)
Thanks in advance, :D
