Not sure this is the right place, but I would like to know whether it is still advisable to use eSignal v8 rather than v10.
In particular, I guess I am asking Tombtrader and others that use range bars, whether v10 is OK (or better) for range bars.
After gazillion negative experiences and having reached a (rather unstable) equilibrium I am quite wary of tweaking eSignal.
Any idea?
Thanks

I'm using v10 as I need the range bar feature.

Having said that, the only problem I have found is that the MTP buttons disappear if I scroll back in time.

I am running many, many efs and the MTP study is the only one with a problem. I use another study with buttons and it is working fine.

Also, Ninja's range bars will be out in a week or so, in beta.

Thank you Tombtrader.
I still use esignal beta version 8.1, the first one that offered range bars. If I scroll back in time my MTP buttons disappear here as well, so I do not think I will notice any difference. I just click on reload MTP and they appear again.
I find eSignal quite unstable and I hope that v10 could be an enhancement, but
Steve mentioned other little bugs on esignal v10.....

I use NT too but I just cannot understand all the excitement about them. They have a great support team, but I have problems and glitches almost all the time.
What is your experience with them? (PM me if you do not want to go public)

Yes, I have gliches with NT but the HUGE advantage of being able to trade by clicking on a chart and dragging stops and targets makes it worth it for me.

I think it increases my bottom line by at least 10%

Hi Guys

I will get our programmer to take another look but the code we use to draw the boxes is a "know issue" in eSignal v10, I quote from the esigmal Forums "If the text is drawn using the drawTextAbsolute() function then this is a known issue in v10"

Now if you say that other studies have boxes in the left side that stay then could you please let me know what these are so I can take a look. We may be able to see what efs code they use to draw the boxes.....

Thanks for your help...

Steve

Here it is:

I think its the "bottom" efs.

Which one do you mean, the bottom one does not have "buttons" and just reports syntax erros in v10, so does not work in v10 at all.

Which one has buttons that work in eSignal v10 ?

Thanks

Steve

Efs works perfectly. Buttons work perfectly. If you get a syntax error its because you are missing something else not related to this efs (contract trading hours lookup) and you get past it by clicking NO twice. The efs works.

I've scrolled left and you can still see the buttons and they are active.

Hi Guys,

We have spent the weekend re-writing code to replace the eSignal efs coding that does not work in esignal v10 with an alternate method of placing the MTP buttons on the eSignal screen and it seems to be working well.

This new version is available as build 28 Beta on the RT download page in the members section of the web site. If any of you wish to help Beta test this.

So now the MTP buttons stay where they should in eSignal v10 :)

Thanks

Steve

If any Beta Testers of "Build 28 Beta" could let me know how they get on, that would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Hi

I am trying the beta because I am running eSignal 10 and yes the beta does work. The buttons are all there.

Could you also fix the problems with MTPEsData1 and MTPESData2??

Rgds

Are you still using Ninja Chart Trader, tombtrader ?

I may give it a try after my Christmas vacation : I've missed a lot of DAX range bar trades by not entering fast enough : if the trade isn't entered with a stop limit before the signal bar closes & there is no subsequent overlap, it's "gone in 60 milliseconds". I've tried the IB ChartTrader application, but it's slower than using a DOM window.

I use NT for the charting but presently using bracket-trader for putting on trades. Yes, I enter on stop limits or even hitting a price in the DOM when I am in the DP zone.

I found the same issues with range bars as 3 minute bars. If they closed near their extremes, you had to be just as quick.

Thanks, T.

Bracket Trader... gosh, that was the first IB front-end I ever used, before Ninja in 2003 ! 'Been using ZLT more recently, but will take another look at BT.
