Caution: QID, SDS and DOG are inverse ETFs -- i.e their value goes up when the markets fall.

QID and SDS are leveraged -- i.e. the change in their price is magnified when the market changes direction.

QID, SDS, and DOG are inverse ETFs that are useful for people with retirement accounts (IRA, 401K etc) who are not allowed to short stocks or ETFs. Prior to the advent of these inverse ETFs the retirement account holders had very limited options: they can either switch to cash, bonds, or to stocks in sectors that were in an uptrend.
