Does anyone know who does the best bid/offer spread on Gold?

Alpari quotes a spread of $1.0
FinSpreads does $0.9
So far I found CityIndex do the best at $0.8

Anyone trading Gold out there with a tighter spread?

I take it you are talking about spredbetting (?). CMC markets do cash gold (XAU/USD) on a $0.5 spread

Thanks NHN123.

How do you find the CMC price quotes reflecting the true market price?
Does it shadow it closely?
I use to trade with them 4-5 years ago, but found they often had price spikes which "conveniently" took out stops:mad: . These spike were not reflected in the real market.

Hi, IG Index have pretty horrendous spreads but you may want to check out the parent company, IG Markets. They claim to always trade at the true market price. I've just opened a CFD account with them. I had exactly the same frustrations with spreadbetting's convenient spikes.

currencies are pretty good and reliable at cmc, and the crude oil follows exactly the emini crude (though a pip or two either way on the bid/offer, of course).

I couldn't comment on the gold market differences, as I don't have access to the real time gold market prices as I don't trade it

Thanks for the feedback JSWIN and NHN123.
I took JSWIN's advice and opened an account with IG Markets. I'm impressed so far.
The whole process only took about 5 minutes.
I love the trading software (much better than City Index's) and the instrument range.
Loaded it up with a test £500 which I was lucky enough to double by the end of the day.:)
At this rate of compund interest growth, I'll be a billionaire before Easter and I'll own the whole markey by May Bank Holiday!!!;) ( I wish!)

Looks like City will be losing a bit lot of business from me from now on.
Thanks for the replies.
