When trying to decide which Gold Contract to go for today, I remembered something I meant to mention about Genesis data in case others had not noticed. The volume data they supply appears to apply to ALL contracts in a commodity collectively. I have been caught out in the past when trying to decide between say a June or September contract and I have thought that the September contract had good liquidity, when it was actually rather poor.

So now I check the liquidity on line - an excellent site for a quick chart (lovely charts) that shows the Volume + OI and all the details on a contract (including FND and LTD info) can be found at ....

www.chartbook.com/charts/

While I'm here, if anyone is interested in COT or Seasonal charts, try these ...

www.softwarenorth.com/trading/commitmentscurrent/
www.seasonalcharts.com

These sites are OK, not brilliant - if anyone knows better, pls post URL.

Prophet Data, which I use, provides volume for individual contract months,it's a paid service same as Genesis. Some trades MTP finds on very distant months have daily volume of as little as 50,using Genesis sounds like you would not know that.

Thanks for the info Gold. By the way - the LTD and FND info given on that ChartBook.com site appear to be incorrect by a large margin on a few of the contracts I have looked at. BEWARE.
