Hello everyone,
Does anyone trade e-minis intraday (i.e. out by the US main session close) using tick charts? If so, what tick amounts do you find work well?
I tried using 126 tick bar chart yesterday, and got some great trades compared to the normal 3/5 min charts, though I am still going to use 3/5 min to keep my options open.
Thanks to you all

Hi Everybody,
A great question here, and I would also be interestd to hear feedback on this. I guess the normal Fib numbers, 89, 144, 233 etc etc are the most popular to use ?
But any and all feedback is welcome here....
Thanks
Steve

Steve, Those are the basic numbers, biggest are the 144t and 233t. Some will use the volume bars too. A 500v chart is pretty close to a 233t on TS.

Hi Steve,
For US 30yr Treasury Bond 300 or 352 ticks charts appear to work well. I will be collecting data on trading this contract based on these two tick charts. I will post the details here once I have enough data.
One of the striking feature of the tick charts is that you don't see any "Dead Zones" -- i.e. time periods where very little trading activity take place. Tick charts essentially take the time element out of the equation.
Regards,
Rama.

Very good point about the "dead zones". It got me thinking, when I'm trading the e-minis, I only use the data from the main session. Do you think using volume charts would let you use all data, from all sessions? Might enable more accurate projections, do you think (steve, do you have a view on this?)
Thanks chaps.

Hi,
I do not have any experience in trading with the volume bars. Richard Arms, who originally came up with "Arms Index" has written a lot about the importance of volume and volume bar based trading. Tim Morge, another well known trader in the US, also talks about them.
